Chevron Romper - Rock the Stitch

When Rebecca at Rock the Stitch asked me to contribute along with the ideas for using chevron I knew that I wanted to feature this adorable ruffle bum romper!

Amy at Peekaboo Pattern Shop is so talented with all of her patterns and I used her Ruffle Bum Pattern to make this outfit!
(affiliate link) click here to see the pattern!
This pattern is actually the pattern that I've seen the most sales through my affiliate links!  No one can resist a ruffle bum on a baby girl!

To jazz it up a bit I added the firework embroidery from Embroitique - paired with the red and white chevron print it is the perfect patriotic outfit for a baby! (fabric is Riley Blake medium chevron)

Isn't this scenery gorgeous?  We went to Arrington Vinyards for Memorial Day and it was perfect weather!  I love Tennessee!!!

You can bet that she'll be wearing this again on July 4th next week!

One shot I forgot to get while we were outside was of the back!
I wanted you to see these adorable ruffles and the crossing straps that knot in the front!  This makes the romper a perfect fit and I'll bet you that Eva Mae will be able to wear it next year too!

The snaps I used for the crotch are the plastic Babyville snaps that you can get in the cloth diaper section at the craft store.  They work the best for me - I've heard that the KAM snaps and snap pliers are great but I haven't tried those yet.   I have the Dritz snap pliers and I can never get the prongs lined up correctly!!!

I want to thank Rebecca so much for having me share with you guys during this Inspired By Chevrons Series!!!  Do you want to see some more adorable chevron outfits and tutorials?  Click on over to the Flickr group!!!  Rebecca has shared several of these outfits on her blog all through this month so you should also browse through her previous posts here:

Sailor Shorts and Tee Peek-a-Boo Summer Tour

I am so glad to be a part of the Pattern Tour for Peek-a-Boo!

I am a huge fan of Amy's patterns!  She always has great pictures to go along with the step-by-step instructions and is very helpful if you get stuck and need an answer!

Here are the two patterns I completed and a little review on each (shop links are affiliate links):

I was so excited to get these during a Thrifty Thursday sale!  All patterns are only $4 so make sure you go TODAY to get your copy of the Madison Dress!  Click here!

The sailor shorts were not as easy to construct as a simple elastic waist short but I think all the details are worth the extra work that went into them!!!
There's an option to make working button holes on the front but I decided to just sew the vintage sailor buttons I had to the front.  Also, the leg cuff was a completely new technique for me!!!  At first I thought I was following the directions wrong but everything came out so cute!!!

The T-shirt!!!
Ok, why do I even buy t-shirt blanks?  Seriously, this is SOOOOO easy to sew!  I am going to feature the shirt in a post for House of Estrela next month since I refashioned an old t-shirt to make this one!

If you want to start working with knits this is the pattern for you!  Click here!

I want to introduce you to my new family member - meet Marisol the Mannequin!  She is modeling the adorable nautical outfit but it's a tad too small for her!  I stretched out the shirt a little too much trying to get it on!  But, I can't wait to showcase some of my new outfits on this dress form!

This model is cuter and the outfit fits like a glove!

I made the 18 month size for both patterns and it fits my 18 month old so well!

The embroidery on the shirt came from Embroitique - the anchor applique is a little finicky on my machine but I love the font!  The font is called "Arizona."

I've had so many compliments on her outfit when she wears it out and about!  Shorts and t-shirts are the main part of my kids wardrobes in the summer!  I can't wait to make some more!

There is an AMAZING giveaway right now so make sure you enter!!!  Thank you so much for stopping by!  Google Reader is going away next month so if you want to keep up with the projects I have going click the bloglovin' button on the side to follow me!  I have a new pattern in the making and I would love to share it with you!  (Speaking of which, have you downloaded my free bloomer pattern?)

Edelweiss Dress Pattern Tour

I was so excited when Adrianna of Crafterhours asked for participants in a blog tour!  I had the privilege to sew the Narita Dress earlier in the year and I just love her designs!!!

I didn't realize until after I made this dress that there are little white flowers in the print!!!!  How fortuitous!!!  Although not exactly the actual edelweiss flower, I am claiming this dress as my "small and white, clean and bright" flower! (And yes, it looks happy to me!)

The bodice is lined and the back has a button tab closure - I was glad to find a perfect match in my vintage button stash from Nick's grandmother!  I love a touch of vintage - the whole pattern as a vintage vibe to me - I'm sure I had a dress similar in style when I was little!

This was the first time I used a new sewing machine foot!  The narrow hem foot creates a tiny little hem - perfect for heirloom and other garment sewing!  I used it to hem the ruffle arms - the end result looks so professional!

I made the shorter length instead of the dress length so I could put some cute bloomers underneath and show off those adorable chunky legs!!

Eva Mae is finally doing a lot of walking!  It took her forever to get the hang of balance and walking without toppling over!  I love watching her learn, grow, and develop!  She is such a fun little personality!  It's super cute to see her try to run away from her brother when we want to chase her!  And good golly is she vocal!!!  We don't understand a word she says but she has so much conviction as she's trying to communicate with us!

I had such a great time sewing this dress!  The instructions were easy to follow, the diagrams were spot on and the end result is a dress that will bring out all the girly in your little girl!

Thank you so much for stopping by today and please go check out the pattern shop to see the other cute patterns by Hey June!

Would you like to win a copy of this dress???

Simply leave a blog comment with your e-mail and I'll let random.org choose the winner!  In honor of Adrianna's travels (which is how she names her patterns!) tell me your favorite traveling destination! (I will pick a winner on Friday!)

Romper Week - Day 5 Designs by Sessa

TGIF!!!
Thank you so much for joining us this week in the first installment of Romper Week!!!  Today we have the most awesomest person I "know" in blogland!  (I wish we lived closer so we could actually know each other!)

Vanessa is so honest in her blog - she truly lets her "light shine to all the world" and I am encouraged every time she shares a spiritual nugget of Truth!  I have been praying for their family and I hope the Lord continues to bless their lives!

I love what she came up with for her tutorial and it is totally her style!  I love everything she sews for herself - there's even a tutorial on her blog to make a bow back t-shirt for yourself!

Check out the tutorial on how to make this adorable romper on Designs By Sessa!

You guys never cease to amaze me with your talents - I've been inspired so many times while looking through the  link party and  Flickr group!

It's also the perfect time to remind you to enter our giveaway!  Today is the LAST DAY!!!

Three lucky winners will be able to pick their choice of an Elegance & Elephants pattern (either the Ruffle Dress or the Bubble Pocket Shorts)
