Sweet and Simple Bloomer Pattern

I have been bitten by the pattern making bug!  I don't know how many patterns I would be able to come up with knowing the time involved in making them, but I had a lot of fun designing and drafting this sweet bloomer set!

The design came from wanting a bloomer pattern that has more leg fabric than a brief style diaper cover!  I've been making a lot of boy smash cake outfits lately (see my album "Birthday" on my Facebook page!) and I think I've finally come up with a technique that works successfully with leg casings!  That will be my next pattern/tutorial!

Isn't my little model the cutest?!

The top was something I came up with on the fly after seeing these adorable ruffle seersucker bathing suits.  There are a few things I still want to tweak but hopefully I'll have something for the blog this summer!

Since it is my first pattern I would love to share it with you for free!  All I ask is that you follow my blog through bloglovin' or other reader!

Click the "Shop" button at the top of the blog to get the pattern!

The details on the pattern:
newborn - 24months
uses 1/2 yd fabric and 2 sizes elastic
SUPER easy for a beginner!
Classic look for your baby!

I had some great feedback from testers:  Here is a sample of their work!
Name: Jody Pierce (baby Ramsay Sue)
Website/FB Page/Blog: http://www.babysweetness.com
http://www.facebook.com/babysweetnessmaine
Size tested: 6-9M

Jody said she's 8 months old and the size worked great!  She did size down the elastic waist about an inch - always a good thing to measure your baby instead of go off standard measurements!

These adorable chevron bloomer pictures were taken by Nerish:

This is a 12 month size on a 17th month old

Becky tested this 6-9 and said the fit was perfect!  I just love those roly poly arms and legs!

Kristin tested these on her 12 month old!  I love the matching headband!

I didn't hear back from my newborn and 3 month testers at this current release date but since the pattern will be free until I have a matching top to pair with it you can let me know if I need to make adjustments in the newborn/3m sizes!

And head over to Suzanne's blog to see her adorable outfit using the bloomer pattern!

  3. Fabulous! Thanks for sharing this. Super cute and your pattern looks easy to follow. Do you have a software you prefer for digitizing? That's way down the road for me (like years) but I'm always curious what people are using. Very cute. Thanks again.

    1. I used inkscape! It's free but you definitely need to have an understanding of how to use the program!

  8. Thank you so much for the free pattern. New to sewing and these cute bloomers were so easy to make. Your tutorial is great! The pattern was easy to print and like how you do a 1 inch sq to make sure you have the right size pattern, cause for me that can be a nightmare! :)

    1. You're so welcome! I'm glad it was easy to follow! I never know if I'm detailed enough or clear in my instructions to people that may be new to sewing!!! I've learned so much since my son was born and I started sewing - keep challenging yourself and try new patterns!!!
