Christmas Pajama Pre-Sale!!!!

It's here!!!  Christmas Pajama Presale!!!

This is my favorite time of year!!!  I love matching pajamas and have dressed my kids in matching personalized PJs ever since Eva Mae was born!

There are more options this year with my supplier!  Baby gowns (like the above pictured)

And doll pajamas!!!

I can't wait to get pajamas for Nick and myself this year!!!  Here is the sizing chart to help you with your order:
(Double the waist measurement for the circumference.)

And although the size chart ends at 8y, the supplier has listed that it will go up to a size 10 this year!

I also wanted to point out that the fabric on all of the pjs are 100% organic cotton. There is no spandex in them. Also, these are meant to be worn "snug- fitting" for the children’s pjs. The Adult pjs are made of the same knit fabric and are loose fitting with button up shirts.

***YOU MUST FILL OUT THIS FORM BY JUNE 21st!!!***

I will send invoices the week of June 23-27th and all invoices must be paid on June 28th to guarantee your pajamas!  Delivery to me will be sometime in September/October.  If you are ordering personalization that will give me time to complete your order and get to you by Thanksgiving!
(Shipping/handling charges will be added if I am mailing to you!)

Let me know if you have questions!

Serger Setting Cheat Sheet

I love the internet!  I posted on Facebook to ask the question if there was a quick settings guide for my serger (it seems like I'm always spending more time getting the tension right then actually using the machine!)

Most responses were that you need to make one yourself. (Booooo!)  But I did find some helpful posts of other bloggers that have the same model and listed their settings.  I included the settings and their blog posts on the downloadable and printable chart but you may find that your machine works better at a different tension setting.

(They are the same....after I made the pretty one I thought maybe people wouldn't want to waste their ink for all the dark gray space!)

There's a ton of information out there - my sheet does not give all the details on your machine since my goal was just to have a quick guide available.  Honestly, sometimes I feel information overload when I start to read about everything my machine can do! LOL!  I just want a pretty finished edge on my garments but maybe one day I can do all the fun bells and whistles!

Hope you find it useful!

Glamping in Modes4U

I love seeing all the recent posts on camping outfits!  I do confess that I LOVE the word "Glamping!"  I think I first heard the term on one of the Project Runway episodes where Tim and Heidi took the contestants to a beautiful camping resort and their challenge was to be inspired by nature!  Our family goes camping every year but I have never been pampered on a camping trip like the PR contestants were that week!  Have you???  If so, I am completely jealous!!!

I was asked back in February to do a sponsored post from fabric by www.modes4u.com and fell in LOOOOVE with this print!  Since our family loves to camp I thought this would make the perfect outfit for Eva Mae!

Modes4u has cute children fabric - this specific print is called Onigiri Japanese Rice Balls - found here!

I knew that some sort of romper would showcase this fabric and I had been waiting for the perfect project to try out the Sew Like My Mom pattern Kudzu Coveralls!  Melissa has been hard at work creating new patterns - she has a free pattern that came out earlier today for some adorable shorts and hinted to me that she will soon be working on a new dress pattern!  You should go check out her shop and blog to see all the cuteness!

I was really hoping that we would be on our annual Mother's Day camping trip but the forecast was rain all weekend so our camping photoshoot was replaced with some "Glamping" up the backyard to get some cute shots!

I love the gusto that Eva Mae puts into eating her favorite foods!  It reminds me of the many shots I took for the Cupcake Top pattern photoshoot!  For all my healthy mama readers out there, I PROMISE my children eat real food and not just sugar!!!

One other highlight I wanted to mention with this project is the easy way the pattern came together.  I mentioned in my Sewing Rabbit post that having pattern pieces that use "negative space" to cut out the pattern make it SUPER EASY to put together!  Melissa uses this technique with the Kudzu Coveralls and I whipped up the outfit in less than an hour!  The shoulder straps are long enough that you can adjust the length with snaps or buttons.  I used snaps and the fit is perfect!

Thanks for reading and I hope you'll go check out all the super cute fabrics and items in the Modes 4 U shop!  I have my eye on some pretty Echino fabric for a future project!

Clementine Stripwork Potholder Tutorial

One of my IRL (in real life) blogging friends is the super talented Lindsay Conner of Lindsay Sews and she picked this bundle for me to share a tutorial for you from the Clementine line of fabrics in the Anna Griffin shop.

I just love these sweet and vintage-esque prints!

What you'll need:

Strips (cut 6) =  2.5" wide by 4.5" tall
Strip lining (cut 1) = 11" wide by 7" tall
Strip Insul-bright backing (cut 1) = 11" wide by 7" tall

Front panel (cut 1) = 11" wide by 9" tall
Back panel (cut 1) = 11" wide by 9" tall
Back panel Insul-bright (cut 1) = 11" wide by 9" tall

Hanging loop (cut 1) = 4.5" long by 1.5" wide

A fat quarter is typically 18"x22" so if you coordinated with 4 prints you could make a set of 4 potholders!

STEP 1:

Sew strips together with 1/4" seam allowance.  Press seams open

STEP 2:

Layer your strip Insul-bright, lining and strip work
Place the lining on top of the Insul-bright with wrong sides together.  Place the stripwork right sides together with the lining and sew across the top edge only with a 1/4" seam allowance.

STEP 3:

Turn seam over and match bottom raw edges so there is a contrast band made from the lining at the top of the strip work.  Place the strip work on top of the front panel.  Pin in place.

STEP 4:

Place the back panel on top of the back panel Insul-bright and quilt vertical lines at 1" intervals.

STEP 5:

Sew the hanging loop by pressing long edges in 1/4" toward center.  Match up the long edges again and press.  Stitch closed.  Fold the strip and pin at the top corner of the front panel.

STEP 6:

Place back panel with Insul-bright right sides together with front panel and strip work.  Sew along edges leaving a 4" opening to turn.

STEP 7:

Trim all edges and clip corners.  Turn right side out and top stitch around pot holder.
