I love that I can say my grandma was the inspiration behind my love for sewing! She was an amazing woman who lived through more than I could ever imagine! She first taught me to sew when I was around 10 or 11 but I didn't really use the skill until my son was born in 2009! The machine I sew on was a present from my dad to my mom for Christmas in the early 1990s and hopefully will continue to be used by my daughter when she grows up!!! The early projects I remember sewing when I was a girl were a leopard print knit t-shirt, a pink heart quilt, and a smocked Bible cover!!! My grandma made all my Barbie doll clothes and when my brothers and I were young we always had matching outfits to wear for pictures! She was so proud when I took up the craft again in 2009 and loved watching me make clothes for my son! She passed away in 2010 and when my daughter was born in 2011 we named her after my grandma!
I invested in an embroidery machine in 2011 to start creating professional looking appliques and embroidery items for gifts and to help supplement our income! When kid #2 came along I decided to stay home from being a full time elementary music teacher! Music is a huge part of my life and I still teach piano lessons as well as preschool music classes a few times a week!
This blog is a place where I share tutorials and sewing inspirations to hopefully encourage others to sew for their families! I love meeting new friends through the internet and following other similar bloggers! It feels great to be a part of an online community to learn and laugh with each other! I hope you'll stick around and see what's new on my site!
Here's my sweet family:
And since I rarely take pictures of myself, here are a few more of the good ones today! haha! (I took them to show off my DIY Boot Sock tutorial!)
