Craftsy Class Discount!

I've been receiving the craftsy newsletters for a few months now and opened an e-mail this morning announcing discounted classes!!!  For about $15 you can get a pattern and the directions to several classes online!  With all the popularity of Figgy's Zephyr dress and romper I was really excited to see this offer!  I just bought my class and can't wait to get started - even though fall is coming I think it will look adorable over a long sleeve onesie or shirt!

I'm excited because I've pre-ordered some Sarah Jane Out to Sea fabric that I want to use for this dress!!!

Several of the blogs have a 50% coupon for the class - I didn't even think about trying to combine that with this morning's offer.  Maybe give it a try and you can get this class and pattern for an even better deal?!  But, in my opinion, $15 for the pattern and video of how to put it all together is a great deal!!!!

A Real Life Blogger Playdate!

A few weeks ago I commented on SewVery's blog that it was a small world - she had posted about ordering from an etsy seller that was local to me and I came to find out that Veronica at SewVery was also local!!! 

We met up at a play place for our kiddos!  It was so fun to watch our kids play and talk about sewing/blogging!  I'm jealous that Veronica is going to a sewing/blogging convention in Utah in October!

Adorable refashioned tee and onesie!

A friend of mine is having a little girl in a few weeks and asked me to make embroidered sister shirts with an extra touch!  I love how these turned out!!!  To add the band and bow, take out the side seam and pin your band to the front.  Topstitch the band to the t-shirt and then sew the side seams closed!  Add a fabric flower or a bow and you're set!!!

And I finished the ruffle pants for the flamingo dress and tried them on Eva Mae just to test the size.  I'm really disappointed in my 12 month pattern for the dress because it ended up being HUGE!!!! I had to alter it a bit and hopefully it will be perfect.

Busy Workin!

So, I feel bad that I am not posting tutorials like my intention was when I started the blog.  I'm thinking I might need to cut back on taking orders so that I can sew for my kiddos and create some fun new designs!

Here are some recent finished projects!

I made four panels for my mom - these two will go on her door in the kitchen and I made 2 other panels that will go on her window above the sink!

I had a girl message me on FaceBook with a picture of a dress she saw that was no longer available.  She asked if I could replicate it and it turned out so cute!  It's for her daughter's 1st birthday!

I also have a friend going to Disney next month.  I have been wanting to do a Mickey shirt and I love how this one turned out!  Although I'm not crazy about breaking 2 needles in the process.  Metallic thread is not very fun to embroider with. LOL!

And this adorable onesie will be frilled up with some extras and have a matching ruffle pant to go with! :)

In other news......I am one of the first to own Melly Sews new eBook!!!  Blank Slate Basics is officially on my computer!!!  I can't wait to make some things for Christian for the fall and winter!

Cute set for the fall!

Refashioned t-shirt and ruffle pants!!!


I bought this fabric at our local quilt store on clearance - I think it was 50-60% off?  I just got a little bit - I think 1/2 yard of each?  It was enough to make this adorable outfit for Eva Mae! :)

I started out by taking the side seams out about 2" and inserted a band of fabric.  I sewed it onto the shirt and then re-stitched the side seams with my serger.

Then, I used my embroidery machine to do the "Shabby Rose" applique!  It's the easiest applique I've done! I can't wait to see the edges fringe when I wash it!



The ruffle pants have extra ruffle to them - it's kind of bulky but I think it makes it look more "boutique-ish!" ;-)

I serged the ends instead of doing a narrow hem since I thought it would match the "shabby" of the applique!

My mommy time!

I love it when hubby is willing to be Mr. Mom and entertain the kids so I can come up and sew!!!  And I was spoiled today since my mom stayed and played with the kiddos for 4 hours this afternoon!!!  I'll post the  projects later - it's just so fun for me to sit here at the computer reading through my blogger reader (and getting e-mails from the bloggers I admire!!!) while watching the embroidery machine!  Fun times!
